A busy week ahead, the National Executive Board is all a buzz in preparation for Natural Products Expo West – the annual conference and trade show in Anaheim, CA. It is an extremely important opportunity for the team to meet brands manufacturing safer alternative products and learn more about how the “industry that cares” really works. Thanks to many individuals and organizations, they will come back with lots to share peer-to-peer to help you prevent a breast cancer diagnosis later in life.

We certainly wouldn’t be going without the support of the Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst which has provided travel funds to learn from those committed to social entrepreneurship. In addition, the New Hope Network organizers have been welcoming my students since 1999 – I am so grateful.

Marketing by Design has been the agency of record for Protect Our Breasts since its inception almost five years ago. We feel very lucky that they have committed their time and talent because in addition to their deep passion for all sustainability efforts, MBD has long client list and history of working with Natural/Organic companies on packaging design, production artwork and workflow solutions. They know this industry well and we benefit from their extensive work in the field.

Each year at Expo, we have been fortunate to have our annual meetings with both our marketing advisors and some of our science advisors. I really don’t know where we would be without these fabulous individuals who volunteer their passion and expertise for the benefit of this and future generations.

Finally, I want to personally thank all the individuals who shared their expertise as I have prepared my talk on food contact materials and the substances that migrate from packaging that will be given on Friday, March 11 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Marriot Ballroom J/K entitled “Packaging Imperatives: Where We Are & Where We Need To Go.” It takes a village to raise this next generation and together we can protect them – now and in the future.
