POB Chapters nationwide convene like-minded youth together to raise awareness and reduce their risk of breast cancer.
What is a POB Chapter?
A Protect Our Breasts Chapter is a student-led group that educates campus communities about environmental toxins linked to breast cancer and promotes safer alternatives. These toxic chemicals are under-regulated in the United States and can be found in products students use every day, such as cosmetics, clothing, and food. Each POB chapter operates independently while receiving comprehensive support from our national organization. Chapter presidents structure their organizations with elected board positions and lead initiatives, including educational meetings, campus outreach events, and fundraising activities.
Through peer-to-peer education, POB chapters translate complex environmental health science into actionable knowledge, empowering students to make safer choices during a critical developmental period.

“As the President of the Protect Our Breasts Flagship Chapter, I aim to inform my community of everyday environmental exposures that can be harmful and contribute to breast cancer. As a chapter President, I will provide information about safer alternative everyday products including brand partners that share our POB mission. It is important for the UMass community, men and women alike, to be aware of breast cancer risk.”
Emma Gotschlich, Flagship Chapter President; UMass Amherst (she/her)
