Why Expo?

Hi Everyone- Kristin here again! You may be wondering why all the Facebook photos from Baltimore this weekend. Expo is a great opportunity for the POB team to learn about safe products so that we can follow through with our mission:

“To share the conversation about chemicals in everyday products found on the grocery shelves that contribute to breast cancer; empowering women to make safer choices to protect their breasts during the most vulnerable periods of their lives.”

Many of the companies in the natural and organic industry are working to put products without toxins onto our grocery shelves. For example, one of our advisors is from Annie’s Homegrown, who introduced us all to a safe organic Mac & Cheese, salad dressing, pizza and more!

After learning about many cool products and meeting with various people who were very interested in our project, we are excited to come back to UMass with a variety of different safe alternatives to share! Some of the cool products we are eager to share with you at future events are PFOA-free microwave popcorn, organic energy drinks, safe shampoo and deodorant, organic chips and much more!

Next step, we will work with our team of science and industry advisors to approve their safety and then….stay tuned for our next on-campus event to try some new and safe products! In the meantime, keep reading for updates on what each of us learned about avoiding the chemicals that contribute to breast cancer!
