Here’s to a Healthier and Safer New Year!!

The beginning of the New Year often brings with it resolutions about health and fitness such as “I’m going to lose how ever much weight this year” or “I’m going to stick to this diet”. In reality these resolutions, unless you really are good at sticking to them, tend to die in a month or two. This year I am proposing to live a healthy lifestyle as free of chemicals as possible; a lifestyle that I will live for, not only this whole year, but for the rest of my life.

I hope you have read our previous post with the New Year’s resolutions from every member of the Protect Our Breasts team. We know it can be difficult and time consuming to constantly chose organic instead of conventional and be conscious all the time of what we are putting into or on our bodies, yet it is so important. If these conscious decisions become a regular part of our lifestyles, it will become easier and in the end we will all be healthier and safer.

There are a few lifestyle changes that I plan on making. This year I am going to continue to work out regularly, which has already been a large part of my life and it makes all the difference in how you feel mentally and physically. When it comes to food, I tend to eat healthy, for the most part. My diet consists of a lot of fruits, vegetables, and sources of protein, yet I will admit, they have not always been organic. Because I am very aware that those foods can possibly be covered in pesticides or be genetically modified or full of hormones, I am going to try hard to eat organic whenever I can. I also want to continue to replace my conventional beauty care products with organic ones. I only have a few more products I need to part ways with! These are the “resolutions” I have made to myself, because I know that, being twenty-two years old, I am in one of the most susceptible stages of my life for exposure to chemicals that contribute to breast cancer and choosing to use safer products can actually reduce my risk.

My goal, along with the other members of Protect Our Breasts, is to share information and research that will hopefully influence you to choose products all throughout the grocery store that do not contain environmental toxins. We have a lot of big things planned for this upcoming year and we are really excited to get back into action! I hope that 2013 brings you a lot of health and happiness and you keep protecting your breasts!
